Suitable stupdaterapp.exe for a Matsui 4G MP3?

For Sigmatel chip based and others non-S1 players, such as ATJ2075-based. (NOTE: these are NOT S1 Players and the guides on this site will not help with these players)

Suitable stupdaterapp.exe for a Matsui 4G MP3?

Postby Crossfell » Sat Oct 06, 2007 2:48 pm

Hi,

I've got a Matsui 4G MP3 player that requires reformatting and reflashing. The problem is that I can't find an appropriate stupdaterapp.exe that can recognise my player. I've tried the application that came with the 2G player but it refuses to recognise the MP3 even though the PC recognises it as a "USB Mass Storage Device".

I've looked inside the MP3 and know that it uses a Sigmatel 36xx device. My assumption is that earlier versions of stupdaterapp are not programmed to recognise this version of the Sigmatel chip.

Any pointers to where I could find a suitable updater application would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Crossfell

milad,

I believe I've posted in the correct section.

Let me know why you think I haven't.

Cheers,

When googling for some other information, I found this list of STMP36xx based players:
Samsung YP-Z5 >> STMP 3650
Creative Zen V /Zen V plus >> STMP 36xx
Trekstor Vibez >> STMP 3650
IXINg (Technonia) TM-S4 + IXINg Duo >> STMP 3650
Siren IV Edge>> STMP 3600
RAmos RM-650 >> STMP 3650
Sandisk Sansa Express >> STMP 3630

You may look at the firmware packages from these players and see if you can find anything useful. You still have to find the correct firmware for the Matsui ....
I found the list here: http://forum.mp3store.pl/index.php?showtopic=14695

Nearly there.

I've got everything in place to carry out a successful re-flash EXCEPT I'm missing one of the firmware files.

As skoas cautioned "You still have to find the correct firmware for the Matsui ...."; this is where I had hoped to use the Sigmatel Firmware Extractor tool written by JimC to obtain these but I now know that the 4G Matsui (140MR) requires 5 firmware files. Unfortunately this tool is only capable of extracting 4 out of the 5 files from the player.

So my question is whether anyone knows of an updated Sigmatel firmware extractor tool that can extract all five files from a Sigmatel-based MP3 rather the four? Or better still, does anyone have these files available on a later version of the installation disc that came with the player? My files are currently versioned as 001.003.018.
