MP3 player with a Mini USB port... How to dissasemble?

Postby metalboy94 » Sat Oct 09, 2010 8:40 pm

It's a Buntz Y-560, 512 MB memory, FW version 3.5.43.0001 (2005/03/17). But unlike regular S1 players, it's got a Mini USB port instead of the regular USB plug. I tried using a nail file to pop open the case but that only bends the USB port, and I don't wanna risk losing it. :( Any suggestions? Some pics below.

While I'm at it, I might as well inquire about the reason for me wanting to reflash it. If there's no battery inserted, or it's low, ANY computer (running Windows) I plug it in reports that it's an Unknown Device. But if there's a good battery inside, it's recognized as a flash drive. Does anyone know any solution to this? Thank you. :)

Never mind, I managed to disassemble it. It's an Actions ATJ2085G, board ID MP-481CV4+Flash 2005-1-15. Does anyone know any firmware version which would fix my issue?

Well I don't really need it, I was just wondering if I could fix that problem so I can use it as a USB flash drive without a battery. I have an iTouch, so the music/text/phonebook functions in this player are quite useless to me. :P
