OK, well, I got an MP3 (I guess MP4 since it does video) and I tried to dump it. This is what happens.

I mean I want my screen to look like this darn it!

Image

Or something similar.

And I guarantee this thing is a supported device, although it doesn't show up as one in device manager, it comes with the same software on teh CD as on some of the software downloads I got, (you know that little format tool with that encrypted partition thing, it is the same as the downloaded one) And I just guarantee this is an s1mp3 compatible device I can just feel it.

So I crack it open and the main controller chip is a AK2025...ugh...after looking thru 2 pages on google, and spending like an hour trying to get a download from a forum (you had to register at this chinese forum (I can't read chinese) to get the download) I got a pinout of the device, couldn't get a datasheet.

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2nyxgkmkgmk

So I don't really know what to do except try to get a firmware dump somehow, anyone have any ideas on what I should do next?

Thanks.

Also, when I plug my player in, in Device Manager this is what it says, Actions HS USB FlashDisk USB Device, Actions Semiconductor makes the ATJ2085 right? I know this device is s1mp3...I know it is compatible, just some small thing I am doing wrong to dump it I know it.

Also here is my driver cd

Ah crap didn't have time to upload the ISO , but I will post it later don't worry.

Hi,

What ever happened? I have the same deal going on. I bought it thinking it was an actual iPod clone and of course quickly found out that iTunes wouldn't talk to it. I then took a crash course on all of this stuff only to find that it does not appear that anyone out there has figured these particular ones out yet at all.

The demo files of course worked on it. It took me a while to figure out how to get MP3's to play and be recognized (I successfully got WinAmp to export with a play list to it). But no success with Video playing at all (and I can turn a video file into anything). I know it uses AMV's and/or MTV's. It says "No List!"... not sure how to get it to have a list for these files.

Somewhere, someone is enjoying these things! Share the love! I know it's a cheap knock off but it can at least function as it was intended to at the level it was made. How do we actually even use these things? It sure isn't drag and drop! The vendor selling them here thinks you can just drop the files right in or use WMP to manage it... but that is just not the case.

Mine is a outright LiPod, SN# A1137 (aren't they all?). Firmware says 8197v1.2 and Core: 9.5.54... there is no way I am cracking it open either. It's a unibody iPod Nano clone (the newest style... tall and skinny). I would appreciate the help and you would be an immediate folk hero from what I can see.

AND TO LAME KNOCK OFF ARTISTS.... At least equip people to use your stuff or the money well will go dry.
