This time hiddenlink is completely correct. But somehow the shuffle function always plays the files you don't want ... :?:

That's exactly wat's happening with all my mp3's. The shuffle function sucks and it repeats the songs already played and others doesn't play ever.

you dont get it.
the random function plays all songs in random. the only thing so annoying is that you are not so patient to wait for the songs played. when playing in random, all you need to have is patience. is it right banana?

Be patient maybe. The songs are not really played randomly however (there are some that are played much more often than others). Try it. Other players do not repeat songs that have already been played.

theres also something i forgot.

set the replay gap and replay times to "0". maybe that will do, mine do it.
the thing is, even winamp shuffle songs, repeat also songs that already played even the others are not being played. shuffle is like shuffling a card. you may get the same card twice or trice or even much.

Yes, but this is not the point. The point is, on S1 players, it is not perfectly random.

S1MP3 IS LIKE A TELEVISION. YOU CANNOT MAKE IT FUNCTION LIKE A RADIO IF IT IS NOT CAPABLE OF.

No! S1 players have a processor and are like a computer. If you had lot of patience and knowledge you could create a own OS for it and add several functions that the hardware is capable of like playlists, no fade in/out (supposing it is not hardware based), better equalizer, support for Ogg Tags and id3v2, better navigation, random playback over all folders, etc.

thats it, shuffle and random, even in all media players that have this function, have the possibility of picking the same file again. the point is, when you are in random os shuffle mode, the player do not set aside the file it has already played.

and also, random cannot be called "random" if it picks perfectly.

Amarok has never repeated the same track twice so far. Nor did aTunes. Nor did my Sigmatel based Maxfield player. Nor do the Samsung players. Nor do iPod Shuffle.

The point is it IS NOT random in that sense that the player does favour certain songs over others. Try it a week long. You will see that statistically some songs are played much more often than others. Repeat it and see you get the same result. You must not add/remove songs during this time.

Of course it is random if it is perfectly random ...

have you ever played in slot machines?
if you are the computer and the slots are the songs, will you pick it perfectly? if you do, can you call it random? THATS THE POINT. have you played red alert? try to play it then pick all your enemies as random and you will see you will have at least two same enemies.

Exactly this is the whole point:
have you ever played in slot machines?
if you are the computer and the slots are the songs, will you pick it perfectly? if you do, can you call it random?

Let's put it this way: The S1 player is the slot machine. If it would be perfectly random, it wouldn't favour certain songs over others. In reality the S1 player favours some (some songs have a much higher probability to be played). It's like the slot machine modified to make you loose more often than you should (of course in the case of the S1 player, it's not really intended but probably just bad programming).

I think you don't understand with what I mean with "perfectly random". Perfectly random is the slot machine that works with the exact probability with which it should work. It is "perfect".
