s1tuner - guitar tuner on an s1mp3

Postby purdeaandrei » Sat Jul 19, 2008 11:09 am

This is an old application i worked on a year ago.
Remember this is only for developers.
This only works on 2085 chips, and only on the MP3 kind, and also it is more then certain
that you need to modify it to fit your screen, and keys

Does this tuner repleace the normal Firmware or does the S1MP3 still function as Mp3 Player at the same time?

It will replace an application in the original firmware. For me that was the pretty useless telbook.
Also for playing around with it you don't have to risk destroying your firmware, you can also run it with
s1giveio, which is completely safe.

This is my old message announceing it, also gives some details about how to run it.: http://lists.s1mp3.org/pipermail/s1mp3- ... 01122.html .

could you maybe help me?

i would love to have an guitar tuner with me, as I'm playing all the time and everywhere guitar and the s1 is more portable and handy than also carrying around that old bulky tuner of mine xD...

well, here is the firmware dump i downloaded with the s1fwx tool from my mp3 player: http://bloodcastle.de/forum/xeno_private/dump.bin

thank you,
xeno

By the way.
I opened up my mp3 player.
It has an ATJ2085 Chip.
I think it is that what you say it needs for the tuner.
Anyhow, here some pics.
I got as date "2004-12-27"

Before even thinking of putting the application on the player first you need to get it working with s1giveio (or loadram).
s1giveio will not overwrite the firmware on the flash, but it will copy the application into the RAM inside the 2085 and execute it.
It will work out of the box ONLY if you are lucky enaugh to have the same screen and button connections as i have, but i highly doubt that.
You should try it with s1giveio and see what happens.
You may also want to try Kidscracker's lcd_detect, it may be able to tell you on what port and bit your lcd is on.
Please also note that this is not a Fourier transform based tuner, but a simple trigger based tuner like gtkguitune, so it is pretty unstable (the indicator is jumping around a lot). At the moment my personal opinion is that it is more useful to have a couple of .mp3 files with the desired frequencies then to use this tuner.
If you are insterested to get this going on your player, then go ahead and try running it with s1giveio, unmodified, and tell me what it does. When i will have some time i can help you get the lcd and the buttons right.

Ok, thank you for your help.
I got the SWAN Drivers running and can access the Mp3 Player via Loadram and s1giveio.

Could you please give me an working version of the lcd detect and an howto use s1giveio?
Because I can't figure out how to load anything into the memory of the player and so on.

And i would love to try your software, so i would be glad if you could tell me how ^^

thanks,
nico
