S1mp3 battery upgrade hack

Postby wazzup » Fri Apr 24, 2009 2:03 am

I don't know is this board is active right now, but I'll post my battery hack. Now it's in experimental stage.
I have iPod nano clone s1mp3, and when i resembled it i saw that the battery is standard Li-Ion 3.6V, and capacity is 270mAh.

S1mp3 is strange device, so you can't be sure what is the color of + wire:

I guessed that red wire is + ;), and i was right.

Now i just have soldered old nokia battery on the wires, and taped it around s1mp3.
Size of old battery and nokia batery compared (voltage is 3.6V, classical Li-Ion battery, all the diferencies are about the capacity ;))

I didn't have time to charge battery to it's full capacity, but i have charged it to 3 lines on display :D, and it's playing for about 6 hours, and it's still on 3 lines.

Thanks for your post, wazzup.

There is another post about battery changing, similar to yours, but its very good to receive another return to see what people are doing to increase players "life".

Congratulations and you are welcome to post another hacks here!

Can you give me link to posts about player's "life". I'm not new to s1mp3 forum, but I was passive, just reading others posts. Idea came to me when I saw players manufactered with nokia batteries. It's experimental stage, so I guess that s1mp3 firmware displays current battery capacity by it' voltage, so there is no problem with charging battery with diferent capacity?
