Memory decrease caused by me

Postby antonioperu » Mon Apr 27, 2009 6:52 pm

Hello I got a 2gb S1mp3 and it was working very good for some time, the thing I realized when connecting it to the PC was that use to appear 2 drives 1 with almost the 2 GBytes and one with very lite space like 500k (after I known it was cause the Mp3 drive configuration was on "multidrive"). Then (being so corious) I run the Mp3's driver CD and started the Disk doctor utility it has 2 labels one is for format the unit and the other for make partition and encription so I used the partition encription label and made an encription/partition of the unit (being setting the mp3 in multudrive mode) and then I had a bad surprise cause now I have only 450 MB instead of 2 gb

I tryed formating it with FAT mode but nothing happens.

I will put on this topic the codes for identify my MP3, after i dissasemble it.

What can I do? Do I need a new firmware and will solve the problem?

Thanks.

Did you try to recreate partitons?

To do that, right-click "My computer", choose "manager" and "Disk management". Delete partitions on mp3 player and create it again using whole space. To format it, use FAT instead of FAT-32.

Thanks Schopf I made what you told me and it's not possible cause in the manager program the option to erase or delete the unit is not available (the letters "delete" are white).

I disassembled  the mp3 and found this info:

main board code: ZX-983N-GC Main V 2.0 2006/12/21

Nand flash: SAMSUNG 604
K9K4G08U0M
PCB0
wzz304BBC

ATJ CPU RAM ROM: ATJ2091N
g4105gb

Firmware version: 2006/10/17
ACT2091_57_1

Looking to the nand flash specifications on s1mp3.org I think I was scamed  ....tell me is not the true lol

Looking this datasheet: http://www.s1mp3.org/files/datasheets/N ... number.pdf, your player should have really 512MB (table is in bits).

There is nothing you can do to fix that. Ask for a replacement.

thank you for helping myself I was thinking on having 2GB again but the nand flash is only 512MB.

Well I have the last question :

how is that the mp3 in the beginning use to show in the PC 2GB?

They create a false 2GB partiton. After you recreate partition, it returns to the real value.

4GB / 8 => 4096 / 8 = 512MB

I'm having the same issue right now. So i just have to ask for a replacement in the end? Is there no way to fix it? Thanks.
