You can download it here:
http://www.myotherdrive.com/public/djdj ... fw_9.0.rar
I can't unpack it in WinRAR but if you want, you can try...

I beleve that wiRe is working on a new version of s1res so that we may edit the 9.x.xx firmwares.

I sent a Email to him yesterday asking if he was working on a version that supported the flash dump you get when you use the s1clone app, and here was his reply.

Original Email: From Me

Hello,

I just recently purchased a mp4 player off of a website, but its firmware
is 9.1.50. I was planning on customizing my fw but the s1wfx cannot
extract the dump.bat file.

My question is, is there a way to edit the dump you get with the s1clone
program using your s1res program,or are you currently developing a program
that allows you to edit the v9.1.50 firmware.

I was really was looking forward to customizing my mp4 players gui. Any
help is appreciated, and thank you for your contributions to mp4
customization, back-up, and repair.

Thank you,
Reluttr

Reply: From wiRe

yes, s1fwx will never support those v9 players since it's not able to
extract the firmware through the players API, anymore.
a new version of s1res is coming up instead. but it could still need some
time.
---------------------------

Hopefully we will be seeing a update for s1res soon. I really look forward to modifying the look and feel of my firmware :P.

This would be great. Has somebody already managed to recover a dead player with s1clone? The reports on this site aren't very convincing.

Well, yea you can recove a dead player using s1clone. The only problem is, the mp3/mp4 players have to be exactly the same. In other words it has to be the exact model with the exact same chipset and exact same memory size. And since there is billions of variations it makes this difficult. What I suggest is backing up you mp4 player using s1clone before doing anything with the firmware, then if you happen to fry it just use your s1clone back-up to recover.

But there is a twist, because there is thousands of variations of mp3/mp4 players you may get lucky and come accross a dump of one that is fairly close to your fried player. and the s1clone dump has about a 80% chance of it working. But because s1clone is fairly new the success rate will be low. But I am confident in time the dumps will become more refined and the success rate will go way up.

And like I said in my last post I spoke with wiRe and he is working on improving his tools and he is working on a new version of slres so we can modify our players :)

wiRe is very dedicated to his work and I am certain he will update his app soon. So it is only a matter of time before we see a new s1res and or a update to s1clone.

Thanks. It's what I thought: s1clone is even more strict on hardware requirements of the players.

Well, I don't know. But from locking at the posts here s1clone is very tricky about different hardware.

well as long as the hardware and firmware are simular it might work. But you whould have a higher success rate if the dump was from a identicle player.

To bad s1clone is so strict. Thing is, since the dump you get with s1clone is a dump of the entire flash, couldent wiRe make a app that could extract the firmware from the flash dump...

That whould most likely solve both our problems. It whould give you a flashable firmware and it whould give me a firmware file I could modify and flash to my player.

I think I know how I can help, Ill make the thread on the FW page for people that need specific firmwares/firmware dumps.

Be sure to look for it, I will post it in the Fw section of the forums.
