Guys!

Please do not try upgrading the frimware should your board ID be different from mine.

Nano clones may look the same for the outside, but internally the Board design and chip used are different as they are being produced by a whole bunch of different manufacturers in China! Thats why i posted a lot of pictures for reference.

Rule of tumb, if it's not broken, dont fix it as flashing a wrong firmware my render your player dead!

Sorry i cant be of more assistance.

I have exactly the same mpx ...

When i hold the PLAY button, the player goes off, but the lcd stays lighted (black but lighted) until i manually move the on/off switch to off to get the screen light off :(

Is this an usual problem? Could i fix it with the .37FW?

Kindly identify your player via the Board ID. Just referencing by the cover picture it all looks the same. Board ID is crucial for identification.

Cannot say if it will help, it could be due to many reasons. Cautions though, flashing the unit with an incompatible firmware may case ireversable issues.

EDIT

Closes thing i can think of is that you unit is good. Probably the settings are wrong. The unit is designed to go blank to conserver battery. Pressing any of the 5 navigation buttons should bring back the screen.

Do this.
1. SYSTEM
2. LCD Set
3. Black
Change the value accordingly, "0" = screen will never turn off. Any other setting indicates the number of seconds till the unit blanks the screen.

The problem is that the screen does not dim off when i shutdown the player using the hold-play function, the screen does not dim off when the power-off timer is set (the player goes off, but not the lcd light).

The only rare thing is that i cannot set the clock correctly, i set it up but every time i switch off the on/off button at the top of the player the clock time is lost!!! (the year remains but not the month nor time)

I have to check the BOARD-ID so we can check if someone with the same board id has the same problem ;)

PD. I have another ipod/clone, not the same model but has a similar configuration and the screen dim off perfectly when it shuts down or while playing and no button touched ;)

Ipod clone 4GB turned into 109mb

Postby libelle » Mon Jul 03, 2006 11:55 am

Hey everybody,
does anybody know it there is a solution for that massive loss in space?
Before formatting the 4 GB ipod on windows you could see the 4GB but than it turned out only to be 109MB. Is there anything you can do? I think it's not a matter of firmware or? Must be a depression procedure of the Cineese?
My data:
The delivered utility software (MP3 Player Utilities 3.68) shows at the laptop:
Device name: S1 Mp3 Player
Productor: Wilson Co. Ltd.
Version: 3.2.16

The Ipod-clone directly shows: under Setup/Sys Set/Firmware version:
ACTS16D_13
2005/06/01
WS-3.2.13
2005/11/10

Could anybody help me with that or has got an experience what to do?
I'll be very grateful and really appreciate some help, thanx to you all (only for reading it...;-)

Sorry to say nothing can be done about it.

FYI - to date there is no such 4GB unit. If you can get a refund from the seller, please do so ASAP.

It's an old trick, buy using a 128MB chip and fooling the unit to think that it's a 4GB unit. You can only know the actual memory capacity by;

1. formatting the unit
2. opening up the unit and referencing the actual Flash CHIP. If it a SAMSUNG, you should be seeing K9x1Gxxxxx = 128MB (MegaByte)

Sorry for your situation.

Battery help, sorry about double post as new thread

Postby hotnano » Wed Jul 19, 2006 11:22 pm

I purchased the exact same MP4 player nano copy as shown in the picture with the 200mAh battery. Obviously with the screen and low mAh, the battery doesn't last long. Seems same with 1.5v alkaline or 3.7v lion flash.

My question is, I see Ipod nano replacement batteries sold online cheap and at 330-400mAh which would last twice as long. WILL an ipod nano battery fit in this player, and what about the extra 3rd wire?

Thanks

My thoughts;

Most replacement batteries are also made in china. I'm inclined to ponder on it's capacity too. Doesn't mean that it labeled as 330 / 400 mAh means it REALLY is. Whats to stop the 3rd party sellers from using a 200mAh battery and labeling it as 400mAh ?

I'm not sure about the replacement batery dimentions are. As we already have the "CLONE" version in hand as reference, we just need confirmation from the seller that it's the same BUT not larger.

Batteries are 2 parts, the CELL and an IC board (you can see it at the tip of the battery). I'm thinking it's possible to swap the replacement IC board with the current one we have. OR it may be as simple as ignoring the 3rd wire all together.

It's purely speculation at this point as I havent read of anybody sharing their experience with us.. care to be the 1st to try it out?
