I just bought my mp3 player and I wanted to change the theme. I was following the steps mentioned above. Everything was going great until i came to an error. After getting the dump.bin, i tried to repair it, and this message appears:

I hope somebody could help me.. :(

Thanks a lot..

We are on the same page, So i'll tell you why our player won't open with s1res, reason being is that we have newer Firmware versions of the players. I just found out Yesturday,So that is why, sorry to disapoint those for us who have newer players, hope this helps. :) From what i understand their will be a newer version so we can modify our players.

I downloaded a older firmware and trying to do a Ipod theme so when the new Versions come out. I can just load the theme.

Ooohh.. Ok.. Thanks for the help! :)

I've got a Rockchip 2" Mp4 player. Here's a pic: ... /166405235. S1Fwx can't find my device. I've tried different versions and connecting the usb cable to diffrent ports. What should I do?

uhm hi....
sorry for sounding so noobish but ive already bricked an mp4 player previously and my current player has a crappy theme which i need to change.

all i need to know is that once ive extracted, repaired and modded my FW, can i upload it to my player directly without bricking it. i mean would that be a complete FW. also, what is the importance of 'repairing' the extracted FW?

so is it the$ file which ive to put into my player after modding?

Ok, since I have a newer firmware and S1res doesn't work with it, is there any drawbacks to downgrading my firmware.

I want to change the theme on my player, but I would like to know 3 things before I do anything...

First of all, I have a Tiger UMP-670 (Ultra-Media) mp4 player with 9.1.52 firmware. I browsed around on MyMPxPlayer forums, according to them, my firmware could not be extracted nor modified yet. Is it true?

Second, I would like to know if there is anybody who tried using s1fwx and s1res in linux under wine and what are their experiences. Is it safe, anyway?

And third, my default firmware have a submenu in the System Setup menu called Display Style, in which I can choose between 2 different graphic themes, affecting only the main menu pictures. Is it possible just to add a third theme in that menu, and keep them all?

The method described here DOESN'T WORK WITH V9 DEVICES!

If you try to extract your firmware with s1fwx and it yelds ANY ERROR about opening the device, abort. Probably your MP4 chipset is version 9.x.x. and the dump file will only contain errors.

The only know tool that works with v9 devices is wire's s1res new versions (3.x or up), but this tool is shareware and you're only allowed to modifiy save and upload the firmware if you buy a license.

So, if you want and can pay for wire's s1res ($25 dolars), you can use it. Unfortunely, I don't have an international credit card, and as so, I can't buy a s1res license via PayPal, so I'm pity as well. I would be happy if there was at least a tool capable of EXTRACTING the firmware (like s1fwx, but for v9 devices), and let me make the rest of the process by myself.

Hello. I have a MP4 player (coloured LCD) s1 mp3. Now the problem goes that I have used the S1RES and tried to extract the firmware but Windows gave an error!

"Exception Processing Message c00000a3 Parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c"

The "About pane" on the MP4 says "version 2.30; update: 2009/05/14"

I want to modify it's menu screen and it's intro.

S1RES is not updated to new firmwares. No way to use it anymore.
