s1clone problem

Postby THS » Sat Sep 01, 2007 4:29 pm

Anyone having this problem?

I dumped the memory from my player using s1clone. And then after messing around with the player I bricked it.
It was looping in bloader, so I test pointed and put it in ADFU

When I went to write back the data to the chip I got this warning:

"There are differences between the flash-image origin and the target device"

How can this be, if I just cloned this exact chip?

Can I dump the contents with out compressing it?

Thanks for your help.

THS

Here is my info:

firmware type = 'F285'
firmware version = 9.0.48
Board number QY-030FV1

S1clone may have some bugs, that's why your fw don't work...

Thanks, WiRe wrote me about this. And I also figured out that 8G on the chip meant 8 giga BITS, thus 1 Megabite.

Here is a quote from his email to me.

s1clone seems to have problems with some devices.
it fails to read the exact content from the flash chip, but fails to detect this error during extraction.

you could use different connection methods (ADFU driver, custom libusb driver, etc.).
some ppl mean it depends on the usage of the usb port, so you could try to use different port versions (old v1.0 and v2.0) explicitly.

sorry, but s1clone was only meant to get used as a last chance.
it's not 100% working yet.
since i don't have the free time to continue the work on s1clone,
i'll release the sources soon.
maybe some other coder could remove this behaviour.
