Repair dead player step by step:

1) Put device on recovery mode (short-circuit)

2) Download STAREX_1GB_WITH_FM.7z

3) With MP3 Player Update Tools upload in player this firmware.

4) Next firmware will be X-View1Gb

6) Put device on recovery mode and update it with X-View1Gb firmware.

7) Download 2051 firmware.

With s1_mod change 2051 firmware this option: Battery 1,2 Ni-MH

9) put your device on recovery mode and finaly update your player with modifited 2051 firmware!


then connect your player in USB, wait 0,5 - 1 minute, while on players screen opens screensaver with computer connection, and format your player in FAT.
Thats all!

Just felt obliged to thank the author for tips which helped me recover my player.
THe chip says ATJ2051H
It suddenly became unusable, it would only go to UFFD(i guess thats the name) or recovery mode.
I followed steps 1,2,3
Then I used Recovery Tools to flash it with firmware 7) didnt go to step though.
It works!!!
I wonder now if I could just have gone ahead straight away and flashed the played with RecoveryPlayer to firmware 7) ? Donno. But I won't be taking anymore chances to experiment.

Just wanted to add my two pennies here:
My player again went bunkers this time, but in contrast with the last time it wouldn't run on firmware 2) nor 4), yet number 7) worked!!! And I'm back on track squeezing yet even more mileage out of my now-4-years-old player.
Bottom line: no need to mess around with 2&4, put it into recovery mode and flash with No. 7.
